Alexander Wang x H&M

Yesterday was THE day where IT was finally available in a selected number of H&M stores: Alexander Wang collection x H&M. Like every blogger and fashion lover, I had to be there. So let me tell you my little story… Not having any courses to attend, I thought it was the perfect occasion to finally go stand in an H&M queue for the first time ever. Everything was planned the night before. Alarm clock set for 7:45am, clothes layed out, handbag ready to go... etc. I managed to get to the city center at 8:30am, and that's where I was shocked to see so many people already standing in front of the store. I never fathomed to see such a big crowd especially since a lot of people seemed to dislike this collection from the comments I read on social networks. Anyways, standing in the back of the queue, this sales woman from H&M comes up to me and asks me if I wanted to go to the men or women section. Obviously, I said women and so she gave me a bracelet with a time written on it, which  was the time allocated to me to enter and Alexander wang collection. Meanwhile if you wanted to see the men's collection there was no need for a braclet and since my viewing time was set for 10:30, I thought why not go for a sneak peek. 9:00am the store opens, men and women rushing upstairs to the men's collection. I finally got into the store at 9:10 and once in the men's area EVERYTHING was already nearly sold. There were only some sports bags left, a couple of pairs of shoes, several shorts, key-rings and that was it. So, I left the store again, went back home and at 10:00am I returned to the store... Yet again so many people in queue hoping to get in (unfortunately most of them didn't have a bracelet). When the clock finally hit 10:30am, I only had 10 minutes to grab what I liked/wanted. Of course, all the girls stormed in to fetch the last grey "Wang" sweater. It was unbelievable to see how all these girls/women were just out of their minds, stressed and shouting whilst grabbing the items. Once in the changing rooms, I tried on the white shirt dress with the holes, the gym leggings and the black neoprene trousers. The girl in the opposite the changing room had of course the one item on my wish list: the grey "Wang" sweater size S!!! I asked her straight away if I could have it if she wasn't going to buy it. I must say I didn't get a very friendly answer but eventually she handed it over to me. I tried the sweater on and neither the mirror nor me thought it suited me! Disappointed but still happy... I left the shop with one item after all: THE GYM LEGGINGS! By the way, you should really get them whilst you still can as they are extremely comfortable.
So, this is my story of this special H&M event. You also know now why you won't see me wear the famous sweater that we were all desperate to get.

I would LOVE to hear your stories that you've experiences this time or in the passed years, so feel free to leave a comment! :)

Tulle skirt

Tulle skirts... Wasn't that the BIG thing ?! I must say it was an instant crush when I first saw this skirt. I was actually thinking for quite some time about ordering one online, until I attended a blogger closet sale where I saw the skirt hanging, waiting for me to buy it!
Obviously, I grabbed it right away before anyone else…
I do know that this post with the tulle skirt should have come earlier than November but for some reason I never found the right moment. Either I had no one taking pictures for me or I simply forgot my camera… silly me!
Oh well, better late than never. right? So, here is the complete look. Thank God the weather was nice enough to take these pictures outside. This actually is the second outfit that I shot with Annouk, so big thanks to her too!
Now, with the cold weather coming up, especially here in the Netherlands where it's particularly cold at the moment, I can't leave my house without wearing my skiing jacket, hat, scarf, gloves and (huge fashion fail) Uggs… I suppose that my tulle skirt will now be buried in my closet until spring shows. My next posts will definitely be adjusted to the weather.
I do hope that you like this look and somewhere in this world the weather is still nice enough for you to wear such a skirt. But right before I finish my post, I do want to state this quote taken from my all-time favourite movie:  "Give me a full ballerina skirt and a hint of saloon and I'm on board" -  The Devil wears Prada

November inspiration

November is finally here. Personally, I love this month for many reasons: firstly because the days get colder, secondly because you can finally wear your winter coats, as well as nice, cosy sweaters, warm boots and, last but not least, because it's the beginning of Christmas decorations in shops and cinnamon biscuits in bakeries. As you already know, I love knitted, fluffy, soft sweaters but also coats. So I've bought a few new coats that I can't wait to show you! From what I've read and seen in shops, I have to say that this year's colour for your fall coat is baby/light pink. Of course, since I am pretty impatient I already got my pink coat at the end of August… Why? Simply because I'm a fall and November lover and wanted to make sure to not miss out on the perfect coat.
Having said that I though it would be good idea to do a little sweater - coats inspiration post. You can as a result find below a selection of nice and warm sweaters and lovely coats for this month.
Are you also more of a fall person? If so, why?

By the way, I wanted to share with you a little news: I've created a Facebook fan page so feel free to give me a thumbs up if you like what I do / my blog ! Just type Arifashionthread in the search bar and you should find me :) You can also find more everyday pictures on my instagram @arifashionthread !

Going casual

As you all know, I was in Luxembourg last week and attended the blogger class as well as the Courrèges event. Well guess what... I also got the chance to shoot a couple of outfits and here is one of them. A real city outfit I'd say : comfy sweater, jeans, spacious handbag and, of course a pair of sneakers. I shot this casual outfit with Annouk from Luxessed. I must say her pictures are amazing and she definitely knows how to use her camera! I know what I'll be adding to my Christmas list this year : a new camera lens just like Annouk's.
In my opinion, this is a simple and comfortable city outfit when going on a Saturday afternoon shopping spree. I just love cardigans… on sunny, rainy, cold and warm days. You can just carry them anywhere, keep them in your handbag (or wear them around your waist) and take them out as soon as it gets a little windy. Right now, this black and white stars cardigan is my favourite, what colour is yours ?

By the way, Halloween is coming up and I still haven't found a costume. Any ideas, suggestions ? And let me know what you are going to dress up as for Halloween!

Chanel Boy Mini "What's in my bag?" Edition

I recently got this mini-sized Chanel Boy in velvet; I am extremely satisfied and happy with it. I've been using it on various occasions and even though it has a small size, I'm still able to fit my "essentials".
To give you an idea of how much fits inside, I thought I should do a blog post about this just in case some of you were thinking about getting a small sized bag!
So as you can see on all the photographs it's the perfect evening bag, my iPhone is the exact size of the bag. I can also fit a lipstick, some money, and of course my keys or some perfume. That's all you need for a night out!
I am still amazed by the velvet softness, by the bag's gorgeous/cute size… I guess that's because it's my first Chanel…

What kind of Chanel bag do you have, or which one is on your wish list ? I'll start : next on my wish list is the Chanel Shopper in black.

The little beige dress

We all know the little black dress, right ? So I thought why not change that into a little beige dress. I got this dress in one of the Zara stores, I guess it was love at first sight. As I am not really a dress and skirt kind of girl, I thought I might want to look more "lady like" and wear less jeans for once. An upcoming birthday diner/party was the perfect occasion for wearing this dress. I agree with the fact that we ladies should all possess at least one little black dress but hey, a neat-cut, simple, cute dress can have, in my opinion, any colour.
Now a little fact/anecdote for a Friday: Did you know that the little black dress was not really invented by Coco Chanel, but it was through this amazing woman that the LBD actually became "famous" in 1926. Coco Chanel published a picture of a simple, short black dress that appeared in the American Vogue issue. Vogue then labelled the dress "Chanel's Ford" - it was simple and accessible to every social class.. and that's how it all started to gain its reputation.

Do you all possess a little black dress ? If not here are a couple of suggestions that you might like and that are very "wallet friendly"!
